Teacher handbook
Launch your teaching on Auruments
Everything that helps new teachers get their first students quickly, in one page. It takes about an hour to do it all.
1. Build a profile students trust
Six things, in order of impact. Your dashboard tracks them as your profile strength.
A clear, friendly photo
Face the camera, good light, your instrument in shot if you can. Profiles with a photo get noticeably more clicks.
Add your photoA 60–90 second intro video
Say hello, play a few bars, and say who you love teaching. Phone video is fine: warmth beats polish.
Record your videoA headline and a real bio
Headline: who you help and how (“Patient piano teacher for adult beginners”). Bio: 150+ words on your background, style and what a first lesson looks like.
Edit your profileLesson offerings and prices
Offer at least one lesson length. Look at similar teachers in your area before you set a price, and start where you can win your first reviews.
Set your lessonsWeekly hours
Students book into your free times, so add the hours you actually want to teach. After-school and weekend slots are popular.
Set your hoursPayouts
Connect your payout account so plan payments reach you. Lesson plans can't be bought until this is done.
Set up payouts2. Your launch week
Once you're approved, you get a New teacher badge and a boost in search for three weeks. Make it count.
Day 1
Check your profile strength
Your dashboard shows a score out of 100 and exactly what's missing. Aim for 80+.
Day 2
Share your profile
Send your profile link to students you already teach, and post it where your local music community gathers.
Day 3
Move your own students in
Add students you teach privately to the Studio: calendar, invoices and payments in one place, with records ready for tax time.
Day 4–7
Win your first reviews
Students can review you after paid lessons. Ask happy students to leave a few honest words: reviews are the strongest signal on your profile.
Great trial lessons
Ask about goals and music they love, play something together, and end with a clear plan: “two 45-minute lessons a week for two months”. Then invite them to start a plan.
Run your studio here
Calendar, invoices with gap-free numbering, payments, family registration with an e-signed studio policy, progress reports and year-end statements.

What does Auruments charge?
A 15% commission on lesson plans, taken from your lesson price. Free trial lessons have no charge for either side. You keep 100% of what you invoice your own students through the Studio. On the marketplace, buyers pay exactly your price and Auruments keeps 13% of book sales and 10% of other sales (sheet music, tickets, gear).
How do free trial lessons work?
Each new student can book a free 30-minute trial with you. Treat it as a short consultation: hear them play, agree goals, and suggest a plan. It is the main way new students choose a teacher.
When do I get paid?
Each plan lesson is paid out after it's confirmed: the student confirms, or it's confirmed automatically 72 hours after the lesson if they don't report a problem.
What if a student cancels late?
Cancellations less than 24 hours before the lesson count as a used lesson, so your time is protected. If you cancel, the student's lesson is returned to them.
What is the “New teacher” badge?
For your first three weeks after approval, your profile shows a New teacher badge and gets a gentle boost in search, to help you win your first students.
